| Special Education Director Selection Committee Letter |
April 17, 2008
Dear Parents and Colleagues:
On April 4, 2008, Ms. Janet Barry, this District’s Special Education Administrator announced her resignation to enable her to assume a similar position in another community. Our loss is Lynnfield’s gain. The resignation of any administrator always creates a void and opportunity. The void is the loss of an experienced and talented administrator. The opportunity lies in the creation of a forum to bring Parents, Teachers and School Committee members together to participate in the selection of new leadership for our pre-school to age twenty-two Special Education Students.
If you can set aside three or four consecutive Wednesday evenings in the upcoming weeks, and you wish to participate in the process of selecting a new Special Education Administrator, I invite you to submit a letter of interest. Your letter does not need to be lengthy, but it should include the reasons for your interest and a short biographical sketch. These letters will be accepted up until 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008. Once all the letters are received, they will be read and a representative committee will be formed.
Your letter should be mailed or hand delivered to:
Office of the Superintendent
50 Norris Road
Tyngsborough, MA 01879
Please remember that Wednesday evenings have been identified as the day of the week for interviews and meetings. I look forward to working with you on this important task.
Sincerely,
David J. Hawkins
Superintendent of Schools
